AI Features
Zoho Expense comes with AI-powered features that help you automate tasks, gain insights, and manage expenses more efficiently. Retrieve information through natural conversations using Ask Zia, visualize report data as charts, forecast future expenses, detect anomalies, and generate intelligent insights from your analytics reports.
Enable AI Features
To enable the AI Features:
- Go to Settings.
- Under Organisation, select AI Preferences
- Enable the toggle next to the required features, select the preferred AI Provider and Model for the selected feature.
The following AI features are available under AI Preferences:

| Ask Zia | A conversational assistant that helps you complete tasks using natural language input, such as retrieving expense and report details or answering questions about your data. |
| Speech Assistant | Lets you use voice input in English to ask questions or perform actions in Ask Zia. |
| Writing Assistant | Helps you create and refine the Email Template content using prompts. You can improve drafts with actions such as rewriting, fixing grammar, adjusting tone, summarising, and expanding text. |
| Release Notes Generator | Automatically generates release notes using Zia whenever components are deployed from the Sandbox. |
| Zia Forecasting | Shows AI-generated projections in analytics based on historical data, along with variance ranges, to help you plan ahead. |
| Zia Anomaly Detection | Detects unusual spikes or drops in your analytics data, so you can investigate deviations directly within analytics. |
| Zia Insights | Surfaces Zia-generated insights from your analytics reports, highlighting trends, projections, and key patterns automatically. |
| Policy Assistant | Provides instant answers to policy questions by reading the travel policy documents you’ve uploaded and responding based on your organisation’s guidelines. |
- Click Save. The selected AI feature will be enabled in your organisation.
Insights:
- AI Provider: It is the service that provides AI models used by the system.
- Model: It is the specific system within your AI provider that processes your request and determines the quality of responses.
Ask Zia
Ask Zia is a conversational assistant that get things done by understanding your requests. Type what you need, and Zia retrieves the required information or displays key details from your expense data instantly.
Note: Ask Zia is enabled for all users in your organisation by default. You can manage who has access at any time.
To manage access to Ask Zia:
- Go to Settings.
- Under Organisation, select AI Preferences.
- Click Manage Access under Ask Zia.
- In the Manage Access pop-up, under Who can access Ask Zia?, choose one of the following options:
- All Users — Every user in your organisation can access Ask Zia.
- Specific User Roles — Only the roles you select can access Ask Zia.
- If you chose Specific User Roles, select the required roles from the Select Roles dropdown.
- Click Save.
Writing Assistant
Writing Assistant helps you create and refine written content for your Email Templates using prompts, so you don’t have to draft content from scratch. You can improve drafts with actions such as rewriting, fixing grammar, adjusting tone, summarising, and expanding text.
Note: This feature is currently available only for Email Templates
Visualize, Forecast, and Detect Anomalies in Reports
Note: These features are currently available only for the Trip Expense Summary, Expense Details, and Reimbursement Details reports in Analytics.
You can visualize your analytics reports as charts instead of viewing them in plain tables. Navigate to the report, pick a chart type, and configure what data to display in the X and Y axes. Click View Forecast to predict future expenses over a specific period based on your past data. Click View Anomaly to spot unusual patterns or errors in your reports.
For example, in the Reimbursement Details report, you can forecast upcoming reimbursement amounts and detect unusual spending patterns across your organisation. Learn More.
Monitor Reports Using Zia Insights
Note: This feature is currently available only for the Trip Expense Summary, Expense Details, and Reimbursement Details reports in Analytics.
Zia Insights is an AI-powered feature that analyzes your analytics reports and generates intelligent insights automatically. Instead of manually reviewing data, Zia examines your report and highlights important trends, patterns, and projections that matter to your business. This helps you understand your expenses better and make informed decisions.
