# Why am I getting an error stating that purchase transactions can’t be unlocked because the sales transactions are still locked?

This error will appear when you try to unlock purchase transactions while your sales transactions are still locked.

When sales transactions are locked but purchase transactions remain unlocked, users can still edit or create purchase transactions, which could impact the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) for the locked sales transactions.

Therefore, to ensure accurate Inventory Valuation and to keep the COGS for locked sales transactions unchanged, you cannot unlock purchase transactions when sales transactions are locked.
