Import Data

You can easily import any data into Zoho Reports. The data can be from CSV, TSV, Excel, SXW or HTML files. You can also import/upload data from Web URLs, Google Spreadsheets, Local databases and hosted/traditional applications.

The screenshot to the left corresponds to importing data in a CSV file from your local drive.

  • Type in a name for the database you want to create.
  • Provide description and tags, which are optional

You can browse & load the file directly from your local drive or copy-paste the data (using the 'Pasted Data' option).

This help documentation page has more details on how to import data into Zoho Reports.

Import Options

Data is stored in entities called as 'Tables'. You should provide a table name for the data imported from CSV.

As you can see in the screen shot, Zoho Reports automatically takes the values in the first row of the CSV file and lists them as column names (Date, Region, Product Category, Product etc in this case). You can also change this 'First Row Contains Column Names' setting if needed.

The first 3 rows from the CSV file are shown as preview.

If the data imported contains any time/date values, the format will be identified by Zoho Reports automatically. You can also set your own date format.

More CSV Options / Settings

You can further customize the import options for the CSV file being imported.

The default delimiter separating columns is comma. Other options include tab, semicolon & space.

You can skip the top n rows in the CSV if needed. If you don't want comments to be imported you can specify the comment character.

Option to specify text qualifier which encloses string values. It can be double (default) and single quotes.

Decimal and Thousand separators can be specified, if not the default.

You can also rename a column by double clicking the header in the Preview table.

And you can specify instructions for what to do if errors happen during import
