Fields

You can group bugs based on default field values such as Severity, Module, Classification and Is it Reproducible types. You can also reorder and modify the default fields. In addition, you can create custom fields based on your choice to classify bugs.

Default Fields

  • Severity is the degree of bug impact. You can set a default severity value to be assigned to a bug when it is filed. You can also change and reorder the Severity field values.
  • Module is used to categorize bugs based on project. You can set a default module to be assigned to a bug when it is filed. You can also change and reorder the Module field values.
  • Classification is used to group bugs based on their category such as Security, Crash/Hang, Data loss and so on. You can set a default classification to be assigned to a bug when it is filed. You can also change and reorder the Classification field values.
  • Is it Reproducible is used to group bugs based on their relative frequency. You can set a default value to be assigned to a bug when it is filed. You can also change and reorder the Is it reproducible field values.

Edit default fields

You can edit default fields whenever required.

To edit default fields:

  1. In HOME, click Projects.
  2. In Projects list view, select the desired project.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over Bugs and click Bug Settings from the displayed bug options.

  4. Click Fields.
  5. In Default Fields tab, click Edit Values.

  6. Click Add Value, and specify a value name.
  7. Click Add to add a value to the selected field.

Modify default field names

You can modify the default field names, if required.

You can reorder the default field names as desired.

Add custom fields

You can create custom fields to classify bugs to your specifications.

To add custom fields:

  1. In HOME, click Projects.
  2. In Projects list view, select the desired project.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over Bugs and click Bug Settings from the displayed bug options.

  4. Click Fields and then click the Custom Fields tab.
  5. Click Add Custom Fields.

  6. In the Text tab, specify Label name and Description.
  7. In Permission, select the desired users.
  8. Indicate Type of Text Field and set the Default Value.
    • If you select Pick List, you must add items to your picklist.
  9. Click Add Custom Field to add the custom field.

Note: Likewise, you can also set Numeric and Date properties for the custom fields.

Edit custom fields

To edit custom fields:

  1. In HOME, click Projects.
  2. In Projects list view, select the desired project.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over Bugs and click Bug Settings from the displayed bug options.

  4. Click Fields and then click the Custom Fields tab.
  5. Click Edit.

  6. Modify the custom field details as required.
  7. Click Update to update the custom field.

Show custom fields

You can view the configuration of the custom fields such as Description, Permission and so on.

Delete custom fields

You can delete custom fields, if required.

To delete custom fields:

  1. In HOME, click Projects.
  2. In Projects list view, select the desired project.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over Bugs and click Bug Settings from the displayed bug options.

  4. Click Fields and then click the Custom Fields tab.
  5. Click Delete.

  6. A warning message about deleting the custom field is displayed.
    • Once deleted, all the data stored in this custom field cannot be retrieved. And the business rule(s) associated with this field will also be deactivated.
  7. Click OK to delete the custom field.
