Display Name

Display Name is how your name appears for the recipients in the outgoing emails. You can choose to display a different Display name for different From address, you have added in Zoho Mail. 

Steps to change Display Name

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Go To Mail Settings » Send Mail As
  3. Click the 'Edit' icon across the particular email address under 'Configured From addresses'
  4. In the 'Display Name' text box, provide the preferred Display Name 
  5. Click 'Update' to save the changes.

Different 'From' Email Address

By default, your Zoho accounts mailbox address will be the default from address for the account. Other than that, the email aliases and Group aliases of the users will be available for the users as 'From address'.
Alternatively, the users can also set up their external email addresses as 'From' address to send emails form the Zoho interface. It is recommended that the users configure the external From address using custom SMTP(Outgoing) servers (i.e. the settings provided by your own Email Provider).
In case you do not have the details, or if your server does not permit external relay or is connected using a non-Standard port, you may use Zoho SMTP servers to relay emails using Zoho Servers.
If you choose Zoho SMTP, You may be required to verify your email address, before you can send email in Zoho using that email address.

Steps to Add Custom ‘From’ Address - Custom SMTP

You can set up your external From address to send emails using your own SMTP (Outgoing) servers. In this case, the email the recipients will not see » On behalf of » seen in some email clients like Outlook

  1. Login to https://www.zoho.com/mail/
  2. Click Settings » Mail » Send Mail As
  3. Click ‘Add From Address’
  4. Specify the preferred Display name for the email address (This is how it will appear to the recipients).
  5. Specify the email address from which you want to send Email from
  6. Select Custom SMTP
  7. Provide the SMTP server name, Port, Authentication type,
  8. Select whether Authentication is required or not to send emails using your custom SMTP server
  9. Provide the authentication credentials in the section, if your server supports only authenticated sending of emails.
  10. Click Send Verification
  11. If your server authenticates your credentials, the email address will be automatically added and does not need to be verified. 
  12. If your server does not require authentication, you need to verify your email address using the verification code, before sending mail from that account.

Update Password for External From Address using custom SMTP

  1. Login to https://www.zoho.com/mail/
  2. Click Settings » Mail  » Send Mail As
  3. In the Zoho mail ‘Send Mail as’ page, click ‘Edit’ icon corresponding to the email address.
  4. Make the required changes in the Server Details and Outgoing Authentication
  5. Click Save to exit.

Steps to Add Custom ‘From’ Address - Zoho SMTP

When you add an email address to send email using Zoho SMTP, the recipients may see an 'On behalf of' tag along with your Zoho Email address. You can use the SMTP settings provided by your Email Service provider with your From address. Refer 'Steps to Add Custom 'From' Address - Custom SMTP below for instructions.

  1. Login to https://www.zoho.com/mail/
  2. Click Settings » Mail » Send Mail As
  3. Click ‘Add From Address’
  4. Specify the preferred Display name for the account
  5. Specify the email address from which you want to send Email from
  6. Select Zoho SMTP to send email using Zoho SMTP server - Some email clients may display your Zoho Email address and mention 'On behalf of' in the header section.
  7. Click Send Verification
  8. You have to verify your email address before sending mail from that account.

Steps to Verify the Custom ‘From’ Address

  1. Login to https://www.zoho.com/mail/
  2. Click Settings » Mail » Send Mail As
  3. In the Zoho mail ‘Send Mail as’ page, click ‘Verify’ icon corresponding to the email address.
  4. A dialog box requesting the confirmation code appears
  5. In the specified email address, you would have received a confirmation mail from Zoho.
  6. In the Zoho Mail dialog box, enter the Verification code sent in the confirmation email.
  7. Click Confirm to confirm and save the settings.
  8. You can also click resend, to resend the Confirmation code if you are unable to find the email from Zoho.

Associate Default ‘From’ Addresses for Accounts

Once you have added the Custom From Mail Addresses you can associate the different Email addresses to various accounts configured. Each time you open the composer in the account, the added ‘custom’ address will appear as the default from address for the account.

  1. Login to https://www.zoho.com/mail/
  2. Click Settings » Mail » Send Mail As
  3. In the right side, the different POP Mail Accounts configured are listed
  4. Select the default From Address you want to associate for each address listed from the drop-down box
  5. However, you can choose a different email from the drop down in the Compose window to use that email address when sending email
