There are three ways in which an event can be created, as stated and explained below:

Smart Add

The "Smart Add" button is available right next to the "Create Event" button. Type the event details in the box and press enter for quick event creation.

Example: To create an event titled Meeting on the 1st of May 2010 at 11.30 am, all you need to type is "Meeting 05/01/2010 11:30 am".

Note that the date should be of the format "mm/dd/yyyy", irrespective of the date format specified in the settings.

To know more about syntax, click on the help icon beside smart add box on your calendar. It will display the standard syntax to be followed when creating events using smart add.

Note:

  • "Smart add" is available only in the English version of Zoho Calendar.

Quick Add

On your calendar, click on the date or time at which you wish to create an event. If your event stretches accross hours or days, instead of just clicking, click and drag your mouse to the desired duration of the event. This will display a simple event creation box with three basic fields.

  1. Type in the event title or summary.
  2. Select the name of the calendar to save the event.
  3. Specify the time of the event.

After specifying these three fields, click on the "Create" button to add the event with minimal specifications. For further customization of the event, click on "More details". This will display some advanced options such as assigning reminders, scheduling recurring events, etc.

Detailed Add

Create event link is present above the mini calendar on the upper left of the calendar application. Clicking on this link will directly take you to "Create event" page with the advanced options.

Advanced options include assigning reminders to your calendar events, inviting people to events and making events recur.
