Import & Export
In Zoho Books you have the option to import data from your computer to speed up the data collation process. You can also export whatever data you have entered in Zoho Books for reference or other purposes.
To add a new item, click on the Settings icon found on the top right hand side corner of the screen. Click on More Settings and follow these steps mentioned below.
Go to Import & Export section. In the Import section of the screen, select the entity for which you wish to import data, from the drop down. (eg: contacts, invoices, bills, etc)
Click on the Continue button.
Select the file (CSV format or TSV format) from your hard drive.
Select the correct character encoding based on your import file.
Click Next to import the file.
A Map Fields screen that appears, map the fields mentioned in your import file with the fields of Zoho Books.
Assign the appropriate title to the fields of the import file.
In case you wish to save this preference for future imports, click on the check box.
Click Next to proceed further.
The Preview window which appears, will display a synopsis of information such as number of items that are ready to be imported, number of records skipped and unmapped fields.
Click on Import to finish importing the file.
You have the option to download a sample file to compare it to the file you are importing to ensure that the import is quick and efficient. Click on sample file to download it to your computer.
To export data, click on the Settings icon found on the top right hand side corner of the screen and click on More Settings. Go to Import & Export section. In the Export section of the screen, select the data entity you wish to export from the drop down. (eg: contacts, invoices, bills, etc)
Choose from CSV or XLS formats to export data.
Click on the Export button and save the file to your computer.
