Apart from launching native apps for Android and iPhone, we are continuing to improve our web applications optimized for mobile devices. Our mobile web app http://m.zoho.com has been optimized to work on most of the smart phones. It currently has Zoho Mail, Calendar, Documents, Creator, CRM & Invoice optimized for the phone form factor.

Today we are excited to announce the iPad optimized interface for Zoho Mail. Our iPad optimized version can be accessed from http://m.zoho.com. If you want to try this from your desktop, use http://t.zoho.com. Once you login, you can navigate to Zoho Mail app by tapping on the Mail icon. Other apps listed in the home screen will currently direct you to the phone optimized version of the interface. We do have plans to optimize other apps for the iPad as well as other tablets.

The iPad optimized version of Zoho Mail works in both portrait and landscape modes. You’ll find all the key features with in the app including navigating to folder, labels, views etc. You can also access multiple mail accounts, if you have them configured.

We also experimented a little bit with a good range of themes for this iPad interface. If you want some change to the way your mail interface looks, you might want to give one of our themes a try.

This update also greatly improves the phone version. While you’ll see some changes in the user interface, we put in lot of work behind the scenes to speed up the app. I am sure you’ll notice the difference.

You’ll notice two parallel approaches to our mobile strategy. 1) Optimizing our apps for mobile devices and 2) Offering native apps. We will continue offering both options moving forward. Meanwhile, we’d like to hear your feedback on this new iPad optimized version of Zoho Mail.

PS: If you prefer using Zoho Mail on the iPad Mail app, follow these instructions.

I’m using https://t.zoho.com/mail3#inbox/0/N/inbox/all/0 on my iPad in Safari, running on ios8

However the view looks nothing like the screenshots posted above?

It much more basic and there is no option to change the theme?

I started using the new Zoho tablet interface on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 (Android 3.1) as soon as it was released. I recently discovered that Zoho is now redirected my Galaxy Tablet AWAY from the tablet interface and sending me to the Zoho mobile site. (m.zoho.com) Why? I would like to use the tablet site. Why is this now only available to iPad users? In the mean time, I just changed the User Agent string on my Android tablet to “iPad” and I’m back in.

Thank you! I wanted to use zoho mail on my netbook but it was functionally unusable on almost all browsers. So I could only use it on my desktop. The iPad optimized t.zoho.com is way better on netbooks than the standard.

  4. JJ

This is great to hear however, it would be great to get this technology App working on a MACBook Pro as well.

    @Eric:
We are yet to optimize the ipad site completely for android and other tablets and are currently testing on various devices and simulators. We will redirect the tablets to the mobile site as soon as we have finished testing. Thanks for your detailed and informative comments.@james.hiah:
We are working on implementing more features on our docs application(on the webapp, mobile site and the native application). Please bear with us until then.@kostak:
Zoho Projects ipad version is indeed in our roadmap and will be made available as soon as possible.@inthescenelimousine:
Lablels are due soon. Sorry we couldn’t include it in our initial version.@andrew,rick, tim: Thanks a lot. keep us posted with your feedbacks.@georgepzabo: We’ll support android tablets as soon as possible.

How do you put a label on a new message? I see how to mark as unread, spam, info, important, etc. But I have lots of labels I use – how do I put them on the new messages I’m going through on the Ipad??

  7. kostak

This is excellent guys. Now if you could only get Zoho Project working on the iPad with time tracking it would be an excellent business suite.

  8. james.hiah

It would be great if Zoho Docs can work on on Zoho Mobile too.

  9. Eric

I forgot to mention that I tested it on an iPad and Android Asus Transformer tablet.
    – iPad (m.zoho.com) = great.
    – Asus Transformer tablet (Android) (t.zoho.com) = almost great (portrait and landscape styles looks exchanged).

  10. Eric

Looks great. Almost also on an Android (the t.zoho.com version) only it looks like the landscape and portrait style are exchanged. On the iPad the space between the (Mail, etc) icons is more in landscape then in portrait, while on the Android it is just the other way around, resulting that Docs is falling of the screen in portrait mode. On an Android the icons have to be a little more higher in landscape (I have to scroll now) and in portrait the background is not filling the whole screen (beneath the icons). If the css styles for landscape and portrait on the t.zoho.com are exchanged possibly these items would be fixed.
    Overall, nice job.
